The scene is Hazlehurst, Mississippi, where the three Magrath sisters have gathered to await news of the family patriarch, their grandfather, who is living out his last hours in the local hospital. Lenny, the oldest sister, is unmarried at thirty and facing diminishing marital prospects; Meg, the middle sister, who quickly outgrew Hazlehurst, is back after a failed singing career on the West Coast; while Babe, the youngest, is out on bail after having shot her husband in the stomach. Their troubles, grave and yet, somehow, hilarious, are highlighted by their priggish cousin, Chick, and by the awkward young lawyer who tries to keep Babe out of jail while helpless not to fall in love with her. In the end the play is the story of how its young characters escape the past to seize the future—but the telling is so true and touching and consistently hilarious that it will linger in the mind long after the curtain has descended.

Krisanthi is a Billboard award-winning songwriter and has been a favorite cabaret headliner at many New England theaters, as well as having performed throughout the US and abroad.  Her original musical comedy “Reality Romance” was recently produced at the Mass Arts Center with all eight shows being sold out with rave reviews!  You may have also recently seen Krisanthi playing the role of Whitney Houston’s keyboard player in the Sony Pictures film “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”.

Unique arrangements and fresh takes on all the songs you already love will have your toes tapping, your face smiling and singing along. It’s Courtney’s wedding day, and her mom, Delia, is making sure that everything is perfect. The groom is perfect, the dress is perfect, and the decorations (assuming they arrive) will be perfect. Then, like in any good farce the doorbell rings. And all hell breaks loose. So much for perfect.

One Slight Hitch

The theatrical concert celebrates the three-time Academy Award-winning songwriting team of Alan & Marilyn Bergman. Having written the lyrics for numerous television shows, films, and stage musicals, the Bergman’s also wrote for some of the best artists of our time: Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Tony Bennett, Michael Jackson, Johnny Mathis, and most notably Barbra Streisand – who has recorded 64 of their songs.  In this enchanting night of entertainment, the songs of the Bergmans are beautiful portrayed in the amazing vocals of Marieann Maringolo.  An unforgettable evening with a once-in-a-generation talent.

Mr. Stancliffe, the owner of a vast fortune, and a two hundred thousand acre Texas ranch has died. His long time butler, Jarvis, and the maid, Melody, along with Mr. Stancliffe’s niece and only living relative Patrice, are there for the reading of the will by the family lawyer, Mr. Oakfield. Strangely, a Miss Tammy-Jo Harper, from the neighboring ranch, has also been invited! As expected, Patrice inherits the estate, with one clause, Jarvis may live out his life on the ranch, and Patrice may not sell it without Jarvis’s permission. After the presentation of the will, a Mary Lou Winston unexpectedly arrives. She is a dowdy ornithologist, (or is she?), who is doing research for her masters on woodpecker preservation. She requests to spend the night at the ranch, as her campsite has been rained out. Jarvis, has one other surprise for Patrice.

Michelle’s warm and beautiful storytelling will bring back memories of home, family, the smell of apple and pumpkin pies, ginger and cinnamon.  She combines blues, R&B, pop, folk, gospel and the American Standards harvesting a cabaret performance you will not forget.

This touching valentine to New York offers great acting roles as Neil Simon continues his exploration of the foibles and funny in the human comedy.
