As You Like It - The Musical Version

DanceUSF is excited to showcase our students’ talent and skill in this Spring Dance Concert. Investigating themes that include reality versus dreams, DanceUSF faculty choreographers – Bliss Kohlmyer, Jeanne Travers and Paula Nunez - will present newly devised works performed by USF dance students in this fall production. Additionally, world-renowned contemporary choreographer Kate Weare will set a new work on the USF dancers for its world-premiere in this production.

Spring Dance Concert

In this modern-day riff on The Scarlet Letter, Hester La Negrita, a homeless mother of five, lives with her kids on the tough streets of the inner city. Her eldest child is teaching her how to read and write, but the letter "A" is, so far, the only letter she knows. While Hester’s kids fill her life with joy--lovingly comical moments amid the harsh world of poverty--is that enough to surmount the circumstances set against her?

In the Blood

Jeté 5K! fundraiser run will benefit the students of the School of Theatre and Dance by raising funds to support performance and production costs and student travel through a fun celebratory event for the whole family. The 2024 Jeté 5K! event will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at the USF Tampa Campus Arts Complex.

Resonance 2023

An eclipse. A mother's death. A terrifying prophecy: the newborn Prince will be a tyrant that kills his own father. The king hides his son away in a prison to prevent the oracle's promise. But in doing so, is he actually the cause of the prince's tyrannical nature? One of the greatest works from the Spanish Golden Age in a new staging by professor Dora Arreola asks if it is nature or nurture that make us who we are.

In this hilarious and outlandish story, the lives of six teenagers from a Canadian chamber choir are cut short in a freak accident aboard a roller coaster. When they awake in limbo, a mechanical fortune teller invites each to tell a story to win a prize like no other — the chance to return to life. A funny, moving look at what makes a life well-lived!

Ride the Cyclone

Described by Brecht as 'a gangster play that would recall certain events familiar to us all', The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui is a witty and savage satire of the rise of Hitler – recast by Brecht into a small-time Chicago gangster's takeover of the city's greengrocery trade. Using a wide range of parody and pastiche – from Al Capone to Shakespeare's Richard III and Goethe's Faust – Brecht's compelling parable continues to have relevance wherever totalitarianism appears today.

The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui - Fall Play

Thia Stockmann, a bright young medical student, has discovered her hometown's water supply has been poisoned. Her data, her personality and her determination offend first her family, then the town council, then the community. As her friends and allies buckle under the pressure, Thia refuses to run from doing what is right, even if that means becoming "an enemy of the people."

Tensegrity - Spring Dance Concert

Pushed to the boiling point, three female coworkers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy – giving their boss the boot! While Hart remains "otherwise engaged," the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down. Hey, a girl can scheme, can't she?

9 to 5 - Spring Musical

The College of The Arts provides our students with hands-on experiences and real-world opportunities to perform, exhibit and practice within our own university gallery spaces, performance halls and museum. Students also participate in multiple design, research, performance and exhibition projects across the Tampa Bay community.
