The Sebastians are a renowned musical ensemble with a focus on the baroque and classical repertoires. Their performances have been consistently praised by critics, with The New York Times describing them as "everywhere sharp-edged and engaging," and Early Music Review highlighting their "well-thought-out articulation and phrasing." The group's string playing has been noted for its elegance and precision by Early Music Today, while their début album received acclaim from I Care If You Listen for its "beautifully-nuanced playing and thoughtful expressivity," deeming it a "technical and timbral tour-de-force." The Sebastians have established themselves as a prominent force in the early music scene, with The New York Times recognizing the high demand for the group and their status as a "fast-rising group of period-instrumentalists." Their musicianship has been further validated by the same publication, which commended their performances with the Sebastians for their "stylistic authority and rhythmic verve." The ensemble has achieved significant milestones throughout their career. They were ensemble-in-residence at the Yale Collection of Musical Instruments and have received numerous accolades, including the Audience Prize at the 2012 Early Music America Baroque Performance Competition. They were finalists in both the 2011 York International Early Music Competition and the 2011 Early Music America/Naxos Recording Competition. The Sebastians have also participated in the Carnegie Hall Professional Training Workshop with L’Arpeggiata. The Sebastians have a rich history of performances across various prestigious venues and festivals. They have been featured at Music Matters at the LaGrua Center in Stonington, CT, Friends of Music at Pequot Library in Southport, CT, St. John’s Episcopal Church in Tulsa, OK, and Juilliard in Aiken, SC. Their presence has been felt at the Twelfth Night Festival and ConcertsOne at Trinity Wall Street in New York, NY, as well as Early Music in Columbus, Ohio, The Renaissance and Baroque Society of Pittsburgh, PA, and Houston Early Music, TX, among others. At the core of The Sebastians is a quartet comprising Daniel S. Lee on violin, Nicholas DiEugenio on violin, Ezra Seltzer on cello, and Jeffrey Grossman on harpsichord. These musicians are the backbone of the ensemble and contribute significantly to its distinctive sound and artistic vision. The Sebastians' commitment to their craft extends to their online presence, with a website featuring web design by Karl Hinze, logo and branding by Maureen Panzera, and homepage video by Four/Ten Media. The homepage photography is credited to Grace Copeland, with additional photography credits available on their Press page. In summary, The Sebastians are a vibrant and esteemed ensemble that has made a significant impact on the performance of baroque and classical music. Their dedication to historical accuracy, combined with their artistic flair, has earned them a respected place in the world of early music.
