Castle of Our Skins, a Boston-based ensemble renowned for celebrating Black artistry through music, makes its highly anticipated Leeds debut. They will be joined by the acclaimed pianist and musicologist, Samantha Ege. Together, they will showcase an extraordinary program featuring piano trios and quintets by three Black composers from Africa and the diaspora. 

The evening's powerful compositions include works by Undine Smith Moore and Bongani Ndodana Breen, which respond to the distressing history of apartheid, and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Piano Quintet, first performed in 1893. This performance not only highlights the rich musical heritage of Black composers but also addresses significant historical and cultural themes.
