Join us for an enlightening Opera Talk titled "Interrupted Operatic Weddings" at the Hartman Lounge, The Mansion, Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) on June 23, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM. This captivating presentation, led by the esteemed Lou Barrella, will delve into the dramatic moments of operatic weddings that are unexpectedly disrupted, creating unforgettable theatrical and musical episodes.

The talk will explore various operas where nuptial bliss is shattered by unforeseen events. From Mozart’s "Don Giovanni," where Zerlina is swayed by the Don's charm, to the tragic outcomes in Donizetti’s "Lucia di Lammermoor" and Puccini’s "Madama Butterfly" following the signing of wedding contracts. The comedic twist in Donizetti’s "Don Pasquale" with a phony wedding contract, and the climactic interruption in "Il Trovatore" when Manrico learns of his mother’s capture, will also be highlighted.
