Field Arts & Events Hall, commonly referred to as Field Hall, is a prominent arts, entertainment, and special events venue located in Port Angeles. It serves as a cultural hub for the northern Olympic Peninsula region, offering a 500-seat theater named the Donna M. Morris Theater, and a state-of-the-art waterfront conference and event center with capacities ranging from 20 to 300 people. The center enjoys a picturesque setting overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca and is part of the Port Angeles Waterfront Center campus, which collaborates with the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe and Marine Discovery Center. The establishment of Field Hall is a testament to the generosity and vision of local philanthropists and the broader community. The largest charitable contribution in Clallam County's history was made by the late Donna Morris, who donated $9 million in 2016 for the design, construction, and operation of the center. Her donation was motivated by her desire to provide a space that would showcase the talent and dedication of student musicians and other local performers. The theater within the hall is named in her honor to celebrate her contribution. Another significant benefactor, Dorothy Field, played a pivotal role in the development of Field Hall by purchasing and donating a prime parcel of waterfront property for the site of the center. Her continued financial support and the establishment of an operational endowment led to the naming of the building after her and her late husband. Additional support came from Pat Donlin, a donor who contributed substantial funds, including a bequeathed gift, resulting in the naming of the Pat Donlin Lobby. These major gifts, along with contributions from corporate and individual donors, underscore the community's commitment to fostering a vibrant arts scene. Field Hall operates as a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and prides itself on financial transparency, as evidenced by its clean audit reports. The hall's mission is to serve as a home for arts and events that unite people and strengthen the community, while its vision is to inspire, nurture, and empower the local arts community, enhance cultural and educational experiences, and stimulate economic activity in the region. The facility not only hosts a variety of performances by local, regional, national, and international artists but also provides rental spaces for events such as corporate gatherings and weddings. Field Hall acknowledges the cultural significance of its location, recognizing the land as the territory of the Klallam people, also known as the Strong People, and honors their enduring stewardship of the land. Field Hall's commitment to the arts is further demonstrated through its gallery exhibitions, such as the Impressions Printmaking Exhibit, which showcases the work of Washington-based printmakers. The organization encourages community involvement through volunteer opportunities and offers a platform for engagement through its e-newsletter and social media presence on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
