Cascade Symphony Orchestra

Edmonds, WA, United States

Cascade Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1962, is a community orchestra based in South Snohomish County, Washington. Its inception was inspired by a group of musicians, previously part of the Bremerton Symphony, who sought to establish a new ensemble closer to home. Under the leadership of conductor Robert Anderson, the orchestra played its inaugural concert on June 4, 1962, with a 60-member ensemble. Over the years, the orchestra has grown and thrived, maintaining high musical standards and serving a vibrant community of over 150,000 people. Known for its outstanding quality, the Cascade Symphony was even featured in a book by the Columbia Broadcasting System president as a prime example of the community symphony movement. The orchestra has been a constant in the lives of its musicians, many of whom have been with the ensemble since its early days. Each member contributes over 100 hours annually in rehearsals, amounting to a collective 9,000 hours of dedication each year. Today, under the baton of Maestro Michael Miropolsky, the Cascade Symphony continues to create memorable musical experiences, inviting new generations to enjoy its performances. The orchestra also emphasizes music education, offering scholarships and hosting events like the Rising Star Competition and the annual Children's Concert.
