In coordination with the Oregon Chapter of the Percussive Arts Society and lead facilitator Dr. Colleen Clark (University of South Carolina), PSU will host Jazz Girls Day. JAZZ GIRLS DAY invites and inspires girls for a day filled with learning, playing, and performing. One of the goals of the day is to help girls prepare for their All-State jazz auditions, although this is not a requirement to attend. The idea behind JAZZ GIRLS DAY is not only to welcome girls to start or continue playing jazz but also encourage music educators to encourage girls to play jazz.

The PSU Chamber Choir presents new compositions by PSU faculty, alumni and current students which they will be recording at Skywalker Sound (George Lucas's recording studio) for an upcoming album. The concert also includes PSU's Community Chorus and other special guests.

PSU Theater presents Pulitzer Prize finalist "The Wolves" by Sarah DeLappe. A muscular contemporary coming-of-age story, "The Wolves" offers an intimate glimpse into the lives of a high school girls’ indoor soccer team. Set against the AstroTurf backdrop of the team’s winter season, the play explores thorny and shifting landscapes of identity, friendship, competition, and belonging. With a powerful blend of humor and vulnerability, the play asks its audience to encounter the ferocious reality of growing up.

Join tenor Katherine Goforth and pianist Chuck Dillard in an evening of art songs and arias. Goforth is the recipient of the inaugural True Voice Award, created to increase the visibility of transgender and non-binary opera singers. Dillard is a PSU faculty member and founder of Queer Opera.

Portland First United Methodist Church

A vocalist, composer, orchestrator and multi-instrumentalist, Johnaye Kendrick received a Master of Music from Loyola University and an Artist Diploma from the prestigious Thelonious Monk Institute. Johnaye performs original compositions as well as fresh interpretations of beloved jazz and contemporary works. She is a member of the Grammy winning vocal group Saje. A dedicated educator, Johnaye serves as Professor of Music at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle.

Psu Wind Symphony Presents: Renewal

Through the power of sound and environment, Home:Lost confronts the stark realities of displacement in its various forms. These might include environmental degradation, wartime destruction, the plight of immigrants and refugees, and the experiences of those who live on the streets. Amidst the themes of loss and longing, Home:Lost will also offer glimpses of shared hope; fostering empathy, understanding, and dialogue about the urgent issues facing the loss of our physical, cultural, and spiritual homes.

The PSU Orchestra and conductor Ken Selden present music of Carl Reinecke, Vasily Kalinnikov, John Williams, and the Beatles. Featuring flutist Hugo Romero, the 2024 PSU Orchestra Concerto Competition winner.
