Wolf Trap

Wolf Trap, located just outside Washington, D.C., is a renowned performing arts venue known for its summer festival at the Filene Center, an outdoor amphitheater nestled in a national park. Established in 1966 when Catherine Filene Shouse donated the land and funds for the Filene Center to the U.S. government, Wolf Trap has since been designated as Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts. It offers a diverse array of performances, including classical, pop, rock, jazz, opera, folk, and dance, drawing both local and national audiences. The venue is unique for its partnership between the private, non-profit Wolf Trap Foundation and the public National Park Service, which together manage the 117-acre park and its programming. Wolf Trap is also home to the Wolf Trap Opera, one of the country's finest residency programs for young singers, and The Barns at Wolf Trap, a year-round venue known for its intimate performances. Additionally, the Wolf Trap Institute for Early Learning Through the Arts is a key component of the foundation's commitment to education, providing arts-based teaching methods to improve literacy, science, math, and life skills for children ages 0-5. With a mission to enrich, educate, and enjoy through the arts, Wolf Trap stands as a pillar of the performing arts community, offering accessible and affordable arts experiences to diverse audiences.
