Tualatin Valley Symphony

Tualatin, OR, United States

Founded in 2007 as Starlight Symphony by Allan Halbert, Tualatin Valley Symphony is a community orchestra based in SW Portland, Oregon, serving the Tualatin Valley area. Initially led by Halbert, the orchestra was known for its diverse programming, including unique, rarely-heard, and newly premiered works. Following Halbert's relocation in 2012, the orchestra, under the new leadership of Mark Perlman, rebranded as Tualatin Valley Symphony. Perlman, with his extensive experience, continues the tradition of presenting a broad spectrum of music, from classical symphonies to modern compositions, with a focus on inclusivity by featuring works by African Americans, Latinos, and women. The orchestra, comprising talented amateurs to seasoned professionals from the Portland area, is committed to making live orchestral music accessible and affordable to all. They perform five concerts per season, including an annual family concert designed to appeal to both young and old audiences.
