Mahler Chamber Orchestr

Founded in 1997, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra (MCO) has established itself as a leading ensemble with a unique sound and an independent artistic identity. Governed collaboratively by its musicians and managing office, the MCO is renowned for its chamber music style of ensemble playing and a repertoire that spans Viennese classical, early Romantic periods, contemporary works, and world premieres. The orchestra has performed in over 40 countries across five continents, drawing significant artistic impulses from founding mentor Claudio Abbado and Conductor Laureate Daniel Harding. The MCO's innovative approach includes close collaborations with a network of Artistic Partners, such as pianists Mitsuko Uchida and Yuja Wang, and violinist Pekka Kuusisto, enhancing its long-term artistic development. Committed to community engagement and education, the MCO's initiatives like Feel the Music and the MCO Academy aim to bring music closer to diverse audiences, including deaf and hard-of-hearing children and young musicians. Annually, the MCO forms the core of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra and continues to explore new artistic horizons, including partnerships and debuts with world-renowned artists and conductors.
