West Virginia University Symphony Orchestra

The West Virginia University Symphony Orchestra (WVUSO) is a premier music ensemble in the Morgantown region, affiliated with the WVU School of Music at the College of Creative Arts. Led by Rotem Weinberg, WVU's Director of Orchestral Activities, the award-winning orchestra performs annually at Carnegie Hall in Greenbrier County, WV, and makes various appearances throughout the state. WVUSO has toured West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, and in 2014, performed in Texas at the national conference of the College Orchestra Directors Association. The ensemble, composed of talented WVU students pursuing diverse degrees, performs at the Valerie and William Canady Creative Arts Center. Conductor Mitchell Arnold, who retired at the end of the 2022-23 season, significantly contributed to building the orchestra's national reputation over his 16-year tenure. WVUSO is dedicated to performing great orchestral music, both well-known and new, serving as an important cultural institution for the community.
