The Grand Theatre, originally established in 1901 as the Grand Opera House, was founded by theatre impresario Ambrose J. Small. Following Small's mysterious disappearance in 1919, the theatre changed hands multiple times, eventually being acquired by Famous Players in 1924. In 1934, four amateur drama guilds in London merged to form London Little Theatre, which rented and later purchased the Grand Theatre in 1945. The theatre underwent significant renovations in 1977 and transitioned to a professional company known as Theatre London in 1971, before adopting its current name, the Grand Theatre, in 1983. The theatre has hosted numerous renowned artists and continues to be a vital cultural institution. The Grand Theatre's High School Project, celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2023, provides London-area high school students with professional theatre training at no cost. Participants receive mentorship in various theatre departments, culminating in a production on the Spriet Stage. The project aims to celebrate local talent, foster connections among students, and develop their skills through hands-on experience with theatre professionals.
