La Porte County Symphony Orchestra

La Porte, IN, United States

The La Porte County Symphony Orchestra (LCSO) is a prominent cultural institution in Northwest Indiana, serving the 110,000 residents of La Porte County and extending its reach to Southwest Michigan. Established over 51 years ago, the LCSO has evolved from a small community ensemble into a professional orchestra comprising 60 musicians. These members are active in various symphony orchestras and bands across the tri-state area, bringing diverse backgrounds in performance and music education. The LCSO's season features four subscription concerts, blending pops and classical music, and includes notable events like the Hoosier Star gala and vocal competition, and the annual Holiday at the Pops concert in December. The orchestra is also dedicated to educational outreach, hosting three Children’s Educational Concerts annually for 6000 students and community members, an initiative recognized nationally by the American String Teacher’s Association and the National School Orchestra Association. The LCSO aims to enrich lives through live orchestral performances, fostering cultural connection and community engagement.
