The Sixteen is a UK-based performing arts charity founded in 1979 by Harry Christophers. Renowned for its tonal richness and expressive intensity, the ensemble specializes in choral music spanning from the Renaissance to contemporary works. Celebrating its 45th anniversary, The Sixteen comprises a choir and period-instrument orchestra, acclaimed for their interpretations of sacred and secular repertoire. The group has performed globally in prestigious venues and festivals, including the BBC Proms and the Edinburgh International Festival. They have an extensive discography with their own label, CORO, and have received numerous accolades, including a Gramophone Award and a Classical Brit Award. The Sixteen also engages in extensive outreach programs, notably Genesis Sixteen, the UK's first fully funded choral training program for young singers. Their annual Choral Pilgrimage brings sacred music to Britain's cathedrals and abbeys, and their performances have been featured in BBC's Sacred Music series and the online series A Choral Odyssey.
