For a very special performance, the world-renowned King’s College Choir, Cambridge returns to Barbican Hall, bringing their signature purity and power to a programme of beloved carols and festive classics. They are joined by the City of London Choir, under the direction of Daniel Hyde.

The City of London Choir returns to Cadogan Hall with its popular and much-loved Christmas concert, conducted by Daniel Hyde.

The Choir is joined by the fabulous brass and percussion players of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for an exhilarating programme of carols and seasonal music heralding the festive season.

Featuring Sir John Rutter’s Gloria as well as several of his best-loved carols, the concert marks the legendary composer’s 80th birthday. The programme also includes traditional arrangements of carols and contemporary classics, with plenty of audience participation – perfect for all the family.

The City of London Choir joins the RPO and conductor Daniel Hyde to raise the roof today; first, though, there’s another choral blockbuster from France (this time by Lili Boulanger), music reminiscent of a holiday in Provence from the composer of Carmen and Debussy’s beautiful moonlit serenade. We also hear not one but two musical letters from America. Everyone loves the deep emotion of Barber’s Adagio – but when you hear soprano Sally Matthews sing Knoxville, his tender memoir of a vanished youth, we think you’ll fall in love all over again.

The mystic, the magician and the messenger - a parade of heavenly bodies demonstrate their powers as conductor Robert Ziegler leads the Orchestra in an adventure through space and time with Holst’s mighty symphonic suite, The Planets. Beforehand, Manu Martin’s Cosmic Rhapsody inspires child-like wonder in nature and science, and pianist Jean Yves-Thibaudet plays Gershwin irresistible I Got Rhythm Variations.
