A Newark, New Jersey native, Madeline first arrived in Europe in 1962 with the Alex Bradford Singers and has stayed ever since. The show will take in her gospel beginnings and time as a much sought-after session singer for the likes of Dusty Springfield, Joe Cocker and The Rolling Stones, as well as her solo career, dating back to albums such as Bell’s a Poppin’, Doin’ Things and This Is One Girl.

​The English Chamber Orchestra Ensemble perform an exciting programme with soloist Ofer Falk. A pioneering work at the time, Mendelssohn wrote his Octet in E flat at the age of 16, the youthful verve and energy in the composition ensures that it remains ever-popular with audiences to this day. Opening the concert will be Bartok’s Rumanian Folk Dances, each of the six movements are inspired by traditional Transylvanian folk tunes originally written for either fiddle or shepherd’s flute.The Ensemble are also premiering an arrangement of Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor for string octet.

Haydn’s Creation was a groundbreaking work in its time, remarkable for its ingenious and original use of the orchestra, most significantly to describe the scene of ‘Chaos’ before the beginning of the Book of Genesis. The entire work is full of delight. Great whales, sunrise, the rolling seas – even leaping tigers – are evoked in a fantastic and imaginative tapestry of sound in one of the greatest ever oratorios.

Annemarie is one of the bright young stars of the brass world and has recently been appointed principal horn of the LPO. She has won joint first prize at the Gianni Bergamo Classic Music Award in 2021, and performed Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 4 with the Munich Chamber Orchestra at the ARD International Music Competition.

Directed by John Mills, the orchestra are thrilled to be performing once again as part of the Music in Country Churches concert series. This year we will be visiting the Church of St Mary in Snettisham, Norfolk to perform a programme including works by great English composers Holst, Elgar and Britten plus Peter Warlock’s captivating Capriol Suite. The second half of the concert will be a performance of one of the great works for string orchestra, Dvorak’s sublime Serenade for Strings.

Butterworth’s Banks of Green Willow, described as an idyll by the composer and featuring folk melodies of the day, is paired with another English work, Delius’ On Hearing the First Cuckoo in Spring. It is a wonderful tone poem extolling the joys of the English countryside.

Beethoven’s Third with Forés-Veses

Set in a fictional world, Oswald Ourania is the puppet master of the City Theatre – a place where puppets dazzle audiences with amazing stories. Oswald breathes life into the theatre’s puppet animals by conjuring up musical songs and tunes on his Gazillium Music Machine. When Oswald gets sick, things start to go wrong. The puppet animals escape and a young girl, Isabelle, must use the power of music to charm the community of puppet animals back to the theatre.

It is a pleasure to welcome the highly talented MultiPiano Ensemble for a concert that sees no less than three grand pianos on the stage.This concert features the UK premieres of Mozart’s Larghetto & Allegro for Two Pianos & Orchestra which was completed in 2013 by Tomer Lev (one of the group’s members), a piece that is rarely performed live in concert and the delightful Mendelssohn/Moscheles Fantaisie brillante & Variations. Completing this exciting programme of works for multi-hands will be Mozart’s Concerto for Three Pianos.

Combining the old with the new with skill, style and sophistication this piece is a respectful reinvention of the themes and ideas behind Vivaldi’s original work to allow listeners to hear it in a different.

The Year of Czech Music is a decennial celebration of Czech composers, taking place around the world.

Dvorak's Violin Concerto is a marvellous example of the great Czech composer incorporating the spirit of his homeland into a concert work that has charmed violinists and audiences around the world. And his Bohemian spirit also shines through in Symphony No. 8, one of his most energetic and playful works.

The English Chamber Orchestra is conducted by their Principal Guest Conductor, Roberto Fores Veses in this unmissable concert, which also includes works by Faure and Saint-Saens, and explores the close connection between the Prague and Paris Conservatories.
