"Exponential ir/relevance" is a dynamic performance that explores the passing of time and the dualities of growth and decay, relevance and irrelevance through a collaborative experiment.

This piece brings together the ten members of the MACTPD cohort for a final project, staged at Guildhall School's Milton Court Theatre. The one act production is divided into ten segments, each crafted by a different member of the cohort, and seamfully woven together.

The inimitable Park Stickney is an internationally acclaimed soloist, recording artist and jazz harp specialist who has performed and taught at every major harp festival in the world.

This summer, Adrian Dunbar will be starring as Fred Graham in Kiss Me, Kate at the Barbican Centre from 4 June to 14 September. He studied Acting at Guildhall School of Music & Drama from 1980-1983. Perhaps best known for his BAFTA-nominated role as Ted Hastings in Line of Duty, Adrian has performed widely across TV, film and theatre. His credits include My Left Foot, Mickybo and Me, The Crying Game, Hear My Song, and Emily. In TV, Adrian can most recently be seen starring as Alex Ridley in the eponymous ITV drama Ridley.

Even when an acoustic instrument is amplified, the auditory experience, perception of sound, and quality of acoustic details shift. When electronic signal processing and electroacoustic compositions considered, it becomes evident that technological artefacts can dominate and often overshadow the acoustic qualities and musical nuances of a performance.

Instrumentalists from Junior Guildhall compete for the School’s prestigious Lutine Prize, Junior Guildhall’s equivalent of the Senior School’s Gold Medal competition.
 
Six students are selected from a preliminary round to perform in the final and the winner is given the opportunity to perform a concerto with one of the Junior Guildhall ensembles, in addition to a cash prize.

Welcome to the Guildhall Jazz course! This performance culminates the induction for new jazz students and is the first opportunity for students to rehearse and perform together on stage. By the mid-1920s, the epicentre of jazz and popular music was beginning to shift to New York, but Chicago wasn't down for the count just yet. Louis Armstrong had moved East in 1924, but by 1926 he was back in the Windy City, making records under his own name for the OKeh label. 
 
This concert by Guildhall Big Band under the direction of Matt Skelton and featuring narration from Kevin Le Gendre tells the story of musicians such as King Oliver, Armstrong, Bix Biderbecke and Kid Ory migrating north from New Orleans and the southern states to Chicago, Illinois, of Earl 'Fatha' Hines, and the nucleus of the post-war evolution in jazz. The nightlife at 35th and Grand Boulevard has rarely been eclipsed.

Guildhall Big Band present Chicago: A South Wind Blows

Pianist, keyboardist and composer Bill Laurance leads the inaugural performance of the Guildhall Studio Ensemble. Laurance’s music evokes a striking sense of time and place. As an original member of 5-time Grammy award-winning group Snarky Puppy, Laurance has toured the world countless times, playing hundreds of concerts to tens of thousands of fans worldwide.

Two Junior Guildhall ensembles - the Symphony Orchestra and String Ensemble - take to the stage to perform pieces by Nino Rota, Finzi, Strauss and Borodin.
