Oneota Valley Community Orchest

Founded in August 2014, the Oneota Valley Community Orchestra (OVCO) is a volunteer ensemble based in Decorah, Iowa, open to both local and non-local residents. The OVCO performs a wide range of orchestral music, from baroque to contemporary works, including newly commissioned pieces. Each season typically features three to four Masterworks concerts and several chamber music performances. The orchestra consists of both professional and semi-professional musicians, as well as individuals from various professions who are passionate about classical music. Rehearsals and performances are held at the Decorah High School Auditorium from September to April, with each concert series involving 6-8 two-hour rehearsals. Directed by award-winning conductor Matthew Cody, a graduate of Colorado State University, the OVCO emphasizes high artistic standards and does not require auditions for its members. The organization provides mileage reimbursement for musicians traveling over 20 miles and does not charge membership dues.
