Shriver Hall Concert Series (SHCS) was founded in 1966 by Dr. Ernest Bueding, a pharmacologist at The Johns Hopkins University, along with dedicated music enthusiasts. It has since become a prominent fixture in the Mid-Atlantic cultural scene, known for presenting world-renowned classical music artists and ensembles. SHCS began with six performances in its inaugural season and has expanded to 14 public events annually. The organization has introduced numerous acclaimed and emerging international artists, including Radu Lupu, Murray Perahia, and Daniil Trifonov, and has commissioned works from composers like Timo Andres and Nina C. Young. SHCS also offers educational programs, subsidizes student tickets, and provides free community concerts through its Discovery Series. The Baltimore Sun has praised SHCS as "Baltimore's finest importer of classical music talent."
