An important way in which donations directly support our students’ musical education advancement is through SDYS’ lesson program.  Our lesson program recital will feature student performances from our beginning, intermediate and advanced programs and are an opportunity for us to celebrate and recognize donors as well as student achievement.

Each year, talented students from San Diego Youth Symphony and Conservatory’s pre-professional Ovation and intermediate level Showcase ensemble programs compete in SDYS’ solo Concerto Competitions.  Solo recital competitions provide musicians, both new and accomplished, with valuable performance training, inspiration from great performances by their fellow musicians, and a goal to strive toward in practicing and perfecting their craft.  In addition to cash scholarship awards, the winners of both our Concerto Competitions gain the opportunity to perform as featured soloists in future San Diego Youth Symphony concerts.

Enjoy an afternoon of exceptional musicianship and friendship in a beautiful setting at the annual Angels’ Angels Summer Musicale. One of three Angels’ Angels membership musicales held each year, this event features solo and small ensemble performances by SDYS’ top students in the International Youth Symphony. Each year, SDYS partners with the Rotary District 5340 to invite a group of talented international musicians from across the globe to participate in the annual International Youth Symphony. This special event invites a selected few students to perform for Angels’ Angels members and the Friends of MusiCamp. The afternoon also includes a pre-concert wine and hors d’oeuvres reception and post-concert dessert and coffee. Details to be announced.

Angels’ Angels Summer Musicale

Join the San Diego Youth Symphony and its partner, Rotary District 5340, in welcoming accomplished international student musicians from across the globe to its annual International Youth Symphony summer intensive program formal finale concert. Participating international student musicians representing multiple countries join students from SDYS’ Ovation program to create this special string orchestra sharing goodwill through the power of making music together.

This free, public concert will be held in the scenic Spreckels Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park as part of the local favorite Twilight in the Park summer concert series.  It will be the first of a series of performances by our IYS musicians. All are invited to attend this beautiful twilight concert and enjoy free classical music in the Park.
