Sun Ra Arkestra

The Sun Ra Arkestra is an avant-garde jazz ensemble founded by the innovative composer, bandleader, and pianist Sun Ra in the mid-1950s. Known for its pioneering work in the jazz genre, the Arkestra is distinguished by its unique blend of jazz, space-age themes, and theatrical performances. Sun Ra, whose real name was Herman Blount, was a highly influential figure in the avant-garde music scene, and he assembled the Arkestra to embody his vision of interacting with the cosmos through music.
