New Century

New Century Chamber Orchestra, founded in 1992, is a conductorless ensemble comprising 19 string players from the San Francisco Bay Area and across the United States. The orchestra operates collaboratively, fostering high commitment and delivering concerts of notable precision and passion. British violinist Daniel Hope has served as Music Director since the 2018-2019 season, following previous directors Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, Krista Bennion Feeney, and Stuart Canin. The ensemble is known for performing classical masterworks, commissioning new compositions, and reviving lesser-known pieces. They have toured nationally and internationally, including a significant European tour in 2019. Their discography includes critically acclaimed recordings such as "From A to Z: 21st Century Concertos" and "LIVE: Barber, Strauss, Mahler." Special projects have featured collaborations with notable artists and composers, enhancing their innovative reputation.
