Mozart never completed his Great Mass in C minor. But what he managed to write is among his most beautiful and magnificent music. At the first performance, his wife Constanze was one of the sopranos and sang the divinely beautiful aria "Et incarnatus est", an aria that makes time stand still. In the Concert Hall, it will be the American soprano Liv Redpath, who has previously impressed with her unusually clear voice.

Brahms could write for choir and orchestra like few others. Hans  Nänie is a heartbreakingly beautiful meditation on the transience of life, where song and instruments merge into a higher unity. In Brahms' Altrapsody, suffering is transformed into heavenly ecstasy, with the men's voices in the role of a heavenly choir. The soloist is the French-Canadian alto Marie-Nicole Lemieux, who has embellished music from baroque to romantic with her darkly glowing voice.

This evening we fill the concert hall with music, dreams and great emotions, when the great musical voices of the time take the stage in front of the DR Symphony Orchestra and the DR Concert Choir with iconic songs from the greatest musicals.

A Symphony of Musicals

The strong opening chorus in Carmina Burana is iconic, and is, among other things, known as the dramatic opening music to the television show X Factor. Here, the goddess of fate, Fortuna, is both praised and condemned, and then things go wild with both lively drinking songs, beautiful declarations of love and even a swan that is burned alive!
