Ved denne koncert vender den populære cellist Andreas Brantelid tilbage til Tivoli som solist i Richard Strauss’ tonedigt Don Quixote. This year marks the 200th anniversary of the symphony, and it must be celebrated!

They are touching, tender, passionate, melancholic, bold and happy", said Antonin Dvorák about his inspiring journey to the 'New World' - the USA, which he visited in 1893. The inspiration became Dvorák's Symphony No. 9, which Tivoli Copenhagen Phil playing at full blast.

Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 is the world's most famous piano concerto. Just the introduction is iconic, when the piano starts with the pompous chords up and down the keyboard. It must be every pianist's dream to play Tchaikovsky's concerto. And here, Tivoli is visited by the Romanian-English pianist Alexandra Dariescu. She has a very special relationship with Tchaikovsky's piano concerto, which she calls 'the monster'. In addition, the concert also features Brahms' bright and cheerful Symphony No. 3.

The 19th century was the century of romanticism, especially in music, where the time offers wonderful works. The fabulous German violinist Arabella Steinbacher is the soloist in Mendelssohn's sensitive Violin Concerto, and the concert also offers a musical portrayal of Don Juan and his frenzied pursuit of women in Richard Strauss's tone poem Don Juan . The concert ends in waltz time with the elegant  Imperial Waltz by Johann Strauss dy, which is included as the last stop on the journey through the age of romanticism.

Mesterstykker  is the concert where the well-known TV host Mathias Hammer presents the most popular classical music pieces. This concert revolves around the three big B's of music history: Bach, Beethoven and Brahms and some of the composers they inspired. Along with the Tivoli Copenhagen Phil, Mathias Hammer also has pianist David Munk-Nielsen and soprano Louise McClelland on stage. It will be a concert with a cornucopia of beloved melodies and good stories.

It ended as the century's greatest love triangle when Brahms fell in love with Schumann's wife, Clara. The story of infidelity, madness and pangs of conscience is not just juicy gossip: the main characters turned all the strong emotions into poignant music. On the conductor's podium, German Sebastian Weigle is at home in the romantic repertoire - and with him is the up-and-coming Latvian pianist Lauma Skride.

The creation is Haydn's last great masterpiece. The enormous oratorio about the beginning of the world is the culmination of the Viennese classical style of the 18th century and the ideas of the Enlightenment. Phillip Faber redeems the image-creating musical instruments from the conductor's podium - with the addition of two large boys' choirs .

The Danish Conservatory of Music is invited on stage. At the top of the menu is nothing less than Mahler's first symphony. A unique masterpiece, based on the beginning of life and the awakening of nature after winter sleep. From here a whole life unfolds with human love, sorrow, impotence and final triumph. With death symbolized by an iconic bass solo and the banal Mester Jakob melody played in minor.

Together with honorary guest conductor Christoph Eschenbach, Copenhagen Phil continues its Beethoven odyssey in two of the composer's most famous works. The soloist in the terrific Piano Concerto No. 5 is young Jan Lisiecki, who is already the pianist everyone wants to play with!

The season ends with a cavalcade of classical highlights when Christian Øland leads the Tivoli Copenhagen Phil for the concert  Mesterstykker i Tivoli #2. After exuberant overtures by Carl Nielsen and Rossini, we travel with Rachmaninov into the piano's melodic universe - meet Stravinsky's Firebird , followed by catchy pieces by Mozart, Beethoven and Ravel. The concert concludes with Prokofiev's sumptuous music suite for the ballet  Romeo & Juliet  – some of the best ballet music composed to date.

A beautiful morning atmosphere, a challenging piece for trumpet and dances for an entire symphony orchestra are on the program when Giuliano Sommerhalder meets the Tivoli Copenhagen Phil under the direction of conductor Magnus Larsson.  Giuliano Sommerhalder is solo trumpeter and replaces soloist Håkan Hardenberger, who has canceled due to illness.

A real opera gala is planned with arias performed by Lise Davidsen. The program features female figures in many situations: in need, in even more need, in action, in despair, in exaltation – in compositions by Verdi, Puccini and Wagner.

The official cause of death was cholera, but speculation and conspiracies have abounded ever since. Was he poisoned? Was it suicide? Was it due to gossip/doubts about homosexuality? Tchaikovsky and Dvorák form the foundation of a program that calls for heartfelt love songs and grand romantic orchestral music. The Georgian soprano Nino Machaidze sings the blind princess Iolanta, the blinded Tatiana and the longing Rusalka – three different operas that have love as a common denominator.

A Norwegian soprano and a Norwegian conductor have teamed up to perform music by Mozart and Tchaikovsky. The soprano Mari Eriksmoen is a soloist in Mozart's wonderful concert aria  Exsultate Jubilate,  while Eivind Gullberg Jensen also conducts the overture to  Figaro's Marriage and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4.

Welcome to a genuine romantic program with music by Mendelssohn, Schubert and Brahms. Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider is back as violinist in Brahms' beloved violin concerto, which caused the composer so much anguish. Before that Schubert's Unfinished  and Mendelssohn's Overture to  the Hebrides.  You don't get any closer to the DNA of romance.

A musical meeting between a young musician and a seasoned conductor: The Danish clarinetist August Finkas and the German conductor Christoph Eschenbach. Together they perform Mozart's clarinet concerto, and the program also includes two immortal Beethoven works: the Leonora Overture  and Beethoven's  Symphony of Destiny.

The great Italian emotions are at stake and sung out in languid arias and duets, when the promising American soprano Sylvia d'Eramo and the tenor Jonathan Tetelman, who has been called  "a complete star",  put each other in competition under the direction of the German conductor Christoph Goat's fault.

Planned for a three-course 'gourmet menu' when conductor Andris Poga leads the Tivoli Copenhagen Phil at the Thursday Classical concert on 1 June. The starter is Weber's overture to the opera Der Freischütz  (  The Hunter's Bride in Danish ), the main course is Saint-Saën's Cello Concerto in A minor – and the dessert Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5.

The Palestinian-Jewish star pianist Saleem Ashkar in a meeting with Nordic brute force and poetry in the form of Edvard Grieg's piano concerto. The piano concerto is framed by Glinka's overture to the opera  Ruslan & Ludmilla  and Rachmaninov's large-scale Second Symphony. Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider is responsible for the musical direction.

On May 20, Christian Øland and Tivoli Copenhagen Phil open the season with a masterful program of catchy music by composers such as Carl Nielsen, Bizet, Dvorák and Smetana. The young award-winning violinist Alva Holm and the soprano Frederikke Holm – two of the most exciting talents on the Danish stage – stand in front of the orchestra, among other things. with Sarasate's Carmen Fantasi and selected arias by Puccini and Gounod. When the musicians from Copenhagen Phil leave their regular orchestra seats and cultivate their passion for chamber music in all imaginable instrument combinations, the special atmosphere of unpretentious professionalism that characterizes the Halv12 Chamber Concerts is created. The Maestro and Beethoven vol. 2

In the summer of 1910, Gustav Mahler wrote his very last work - which he never finished before his death the following year. Only the first movement was orchestrated and ready for performance. Since then, several have tried to creep into Mahler's universe of thought and complete his sketches and drafts for the rest of the symphony – among them the Israeli-American conductor Yoel Gamzou, who this evening conducts his own take on a performance version of Mahler's 10th Symphony.

To inspire parents and grandparents to let their children discover the world of music and art, Den Jutland Opera presents a very special production of The Magic Flute : With a large orchestra and the best singers, but shortened so that the duration is no longer than a good children's film. The performance introduces current and future Mozart fans to all the famous melodies. And as the icing on the cake, the orchestra is brought up to eye level, so that everyone in the hall can experience the joy of the infinitely beautiful music.

David Afkham is chief conductor of the Spanish National Orchestra and for several years was assistant conductor of the Gustav Mahler Chamber Orchestra. Christiane Karg has – as the only one ever – actually recorded the soprano solo from Mahler's fourth symphony with the composer himself at the piano! Mahler recorded the movement on a piano roll in 1905, and four years ago Karg sang that way with a composer who died 69 years before she was born. Then sit back in the seat in the Conservatory's beautiful Concert Hall and enjoy Mahler's masterpieces in the hands of two real specialists.

The Danish star-singer-songwriter Tina Dickow and Copenhagen Phil meet in February 2023 and present a symphonic premiere of Dickow's new Danish-language album Bitte små ryk , played from start to finish. On the occasion of the evening, the entire album and some other Danish songs from Dickow's large song catalog have been arranged for the symphony orchestra's many classical instruments.

Copenhagen Phil teams up with Veto to present the Danish band in a symphonic setting. It will happen on Thursday 2 February 2023 in the concert hall in the former Radiohus in Frederiksberg, where brand new sonic interpretations of Veto's extensive back catalog will hit the sound barrier for the first time - with the band's members integrated into the large symphony orchestra.

One of the most sought-after pianists of the time is the German Martin Helmchen, who this evening is the guest of the Copenhagen Phil with his eminent excess of both piano technique and musicality. On this evening's occasion, the orchestra has been reinforced by the next generation of orchestral musicians from Det Kgl. Danish Music Conservatory - to the tunes of masterpieces by Brahms and Berlioz.

The internationally renowned Danish conductor Thomas Dausgaard returns to the podium at the Copenhagen Phil after over 25 years of absence - and plans have been made for a top-shelf experience when he visits the orchestra together with the in-demand cellist Daniel Müller-Schott.

Copenhagen Phil kicks off the new year with a bang with a New Year's concert - and, according to tradition, tours around Zealand to wish a happy New Year. Joining the tour bus are two of the country's best singers and a popular radio host.

The season opener is also the inauguration concert for Copenhagen Phil's new chief conductor, Christoph Gedschold. Gedschold is one of the most interesting names among the upcoming generation of top German conductors - and in addition to being Copenhagen Phil's new chief conductor, he is also chief conductor of the Leipzig Opera and thus in permanent collaboration with one of the world's absolute leading orchestras, the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig. The 47-year-old German maestro has a great passion for the religious aura of Bruckner's sonorous symphonic universe.

Bach's monumental Mass in B minor was his last major church work. And what a work! A stroke of genius that sums up the master's entire work as a church musician, where soloists, choir and orchestra merge and unite the earthly with the divine in the composer's greatest masterpiece.

With insane dance rhythms and energetic fiddler tunes, it's impossible to sit still. Copenhagen Phil's new honorary guest conductor, Thomas Dausgaard, has himself orchestrated Brahms' cheerful Ungarske Danse . And the musicians of the Hungarian Budapest Bár contribute to the party on folk instruments they have brought.

Frederiksberg Town Hall and Copenhagen Phil present a unique classical concert experience – and take both young and old listeners on a journey through classical music. This happens when the audience walks around in the middle of the live music while it is playing, and in that way gets very close to the orchestra's many musicians, who are spread out throughout the room.

Copenhagen Phil's woodwinds and brass have teamed up with the elite choir Musica Ficta. Together they host Holte and perform Stravinsky's neoclassical mass, which draws threads far back in time. French Machaut's Messe de Nostre Dame  is authentic medieval music from the 14th century.

Copenhagen Phil's concertmaster Jon Gjesme is also an excellent conductor. He demonstrates this in the most distinguished way when he leads his string colleagues in melodious works by Bartók and Dvorák. The orchestra's second concertmaster, Teresa la Cour, is the violin soloist in Schubert's charming Rondo for violin and strings.

Experience an abundance of symphonic sensory impressions when Copenhagen Phil performs its very first Melodrama – a completely new hybrid genre, where original classical music is performed together with newly written movements. The performance unfolds a magnificent stage show with video projections, a giant LED screen and performers who rap, sing and tell a story. In short, a classical music experience that has never been seen or heard before.

Gustav Mahler was at the peak of his career when he composed his mighty Symphony No. 5. The breathtaking masterpiece contains the composer's entire outer and inner world: from the fateful to sorrow, impotence, folk life and the intoxicating love for his wife Alma. The love is expressed in the symphony's famous, passionate and beloved 4th movement – ​​with the heart-rending tenderness of the strings and harp.
