Bach’s unfinished masterpiece, The Art of the Fugue, stands as one of classical music’s greatest works. Now, internationally acclaimed Ukrainian choreographer Alexei Ratmansky creates a new ballet set to this iconic score.

Ratmansky, one of today’s most sought-after choreographers, is deeply rooted in the classical ballet tradition, yet his works are filled with fresh and original ideas. After several years away, he returns to Denmark with The Art of the Fugue, an entirely abstract, almost cosmic ballet in five acts, danced to Bach’s musical masterpiece.

Nothing surpasses the grandeur of Swan Lake. The poignant story of the impossible love between a melancholic prince and the most beautiful of birds continues to resonate deeply with audiences.

The swan, one of nature’s most captivating creatures, embodies grace and feminine beauty, yet also possesses a majestic presence as it glides across the water. The late 19th-century inspiration to have ballerinas, with their inherent elegance, portray swans in Swan Lake was a stroke of genius. The young, introspective Prince Siegfried falls in love with the delicate Swan Princess, Odette, but is also drawn to her double, Odile. One represents purity and poetry; the other, seduction and deceit.
