American Friends of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (AFIPO) supports the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (IPO), Israel's leading symphonic ensemble founded in 1936 by Bronislaw Huberman to save Jewish musicians from the Holocaust. The IPO, globally recognized for its excellence, performs at the Charles Bronfman Auditorium in Tel Aviv and tours internationally. AFIPO, established in 1980, enhances the IPO's reach through financial support for tours and educational programs. Under the long-term leadership of Zubin Mehta, and now Lahav Shani, the IPO continues to serve as Israel's cultural ambassador, fostering artistic freedom and humanitarian principles.
