In 1930s Copenhagen, the young Jewish woman Hannah grows up in a family full of traditions and expectations. She dreams of becoming a musician like her brothers, and she feels music in her whole soul.

A group of strangers are snowed in at the remote Monkswell Manor boarding house. Here they hear on the radio about a murder committed nearby, and when they are visited by a skiing police commissioner, it is clear that the murderer is most likely among them. When another murder takes place, the tension rises and fear sets in. For who is the murderer? Everyone is under suspicion - and everyone is potentially the next victim!
