A fiery, strong and confident woman who refuses to be captured becomes a red herring for the men who want to possess her. And as so often in real life, it has fatal consequences. 

Georges Bizet's opera about the seductive and independent Carmen is one of the world's most performed and beloved operas. 

The captivating music is known far beyond opera circles and is frequently quoted in pop culture. It can be heard in films, pop songs, advertising jingles and at sporting events.
