This witty, whimsical, and deeply moving show intertwines beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales — including Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel — with an original story of a baker and his wife on a quest to break a witch’s curse and start a family.

As wishes are made and paths are followed, the characters discover that every choice has consequences, and that the journey is often more revealing than the destination. Into the Woods is a magical theatrical experience that explores love, loss, and the power of families.

As the culminating event of its Golden Jubilee year, State Opera South Australia proudly presents a spectacular celebration of the 50-year legacy of the State Opera Chorus, in the centre of Adelaide’s cultural and spiritual life — St Peter’s Cathedral.

Audiences will be treated to an unforgettable performance of music as the State Opera Chorus takes centre stage, conducted by Anthony Hunt, Head of Music and Chorus Master at State Opera and St Peter’s Cathedral. It will celebrate the voices of the Chorus and their long-lasting contribution at the very heart of the State Opera.

American-born tenor and audience favourite Kyle Stegall, with State Opera’s Anthony Hunt, explore music of the Baroque. From the purely expressive poetry of Monteverdi to the intricate counterpoint of Handel; and from the mythic heroes of the florid stories of the Baroque, to the grandest themes of redemption and salvation. Kyle & Anthony are joined by violinist Alison Rayner and cellist Tom Marlin, playing on baroque instruments.
