We celebrate the stylistic diversity of the string repertoire, from Viennese Classicism through the Roaring Twenties to the global Romantic era! The concert opens with Erwin Schulhoff's Five Pieces for String Quartet. Composed in 1924, this collection reflects the vibrant spirit of the 1920s: with cheeky irony, sparkling energy, and influences from jazz, as well as rhythmically incisive dances like the tango and tarantella, Schulhoff skillfully breaks with traditional forms, creating a thrilling opening.

This Thursday evening of chamber music promises a vibrant program full of captivating rhythms, virtuoso wind playing, and great romantic elegance. The fiery opening will feature two dances from Smetana's popular opera "The Bartered Bride" in a colorful arrangement for wind sextet. With sparkling energy, infectious rhythms, and unmistakable Bohemian flair, these dances will set the tone for a lively evening.
