In addition to the musical feast, the event will showcase contemporary photography that evokes the essence of the seasons, captured by four talented NYC-based photographers. This unique blend of visual and auditory art promises to be a captivating experience for all attendees.

Please note that in-person tickets for this concert are currently sold out, but interested patrons are encouraged to visit the box office in person on the day of the event to join a waitlist for any cancellations. "Voices of Versailles" promises a rich auditory feast, featuring the combined talents of the eight singers from the Yale Voxtet and the Sebastians’ core quartet, which includes two violins, a cello, and a harpsichord. The ensemble will be further enhanced with the addition of recorders, oboes, viola, violone, and theorbo, creating a full-bodied sound that is sure to transport the audience back to the grandeur of the French Baroque period.

The concert's program is centered around Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s "La Couronne de fleurs," and will also include works by Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre, Jean-Baptiste Lully, Henry Purcell, and Jean-Féry Rebel, among others. The performance is expected to last between 80 and 90 minutes and will proceed without an intermission, ensuring an uninterrupted experience of sublime music.

Performers for the evening include notable musicians such as Margaret Owens and Geoffrey Burgess on oboe and recorder, Daniel Lee and Nicholas DiEugenio on violin, Annie Garlid on viola, Ezra Seltzer on cello, Nathaniel Chase on violone, Charles Weaver on theorbo, and Jeffrey Grossman on harpsichord, alongside the talented vocalists of the Yale Voxtet.

Understanding that dance played a pivotal role in baroque culture, the Sebastians, under the direction of Daniel Lee and Jeffrey Grossman, aim to bring a fresh perspective to these classical pieces. This year, they are excited to introduce a special collaboration with Steven Vilsaint, a dancer from the hip-hop world, whose performance is inspired by the music of Bach and other composers featured in the program.

The concert will showcase a selection of sonatas and suites by Johann Sebastian Bach, Elisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre, and Louis Marchand, promising a 70-minute performance without intermission, designed to immerse the audience in the harmonious blend of baroque music and contemporary dance.

Join us for a captivating afternoon of music at "The Italian Violin" concert, presented by the Sebastians. This intimate recital will take place on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 2pm in the serene Chapel of Brick Presbyterian Church, located at 62 E. 92nd St., New York City. Enter through the white doorway on Park Avenue between 91st and 92nd Street, where you'll find a welcoming entrance with a hand-rail and two small steps.

This special event features core musicians Nicholas DiEugenio on violin and Jeffrey Grossman on harpsichord, who will explore the violin's Italian roots and its evolution into the orchestra's diva. The program will highlight the instrument's journey from the streets to the concert hall, showcasing works by legendary composers such as Giovanni Battista Fontana, Domenico Scarlatti, Johann Sebastian Bach, Giovanni Battista Somis, and George Frideric Handel. The concert will include a mix of solo and duo repertoire, with a special focus on Bach's sonatas and partitas, which were heavily influenced by Italian music.
