The latter’s 1963 concerto for jazz quartet and orchestra, Brandenburg Gate Revisited, receives its first live UK performance with leading British pianist Freddy Kempf and a Czech jazz trio spinning sepia melodies around a subtly noir orchestral accompaniment. Freddy also takes the lead in Gershwin’s Variations on I Got Rhythm, a sprightly showpiece exploring similar terrain to his famous Rhapsody in Blue.

After an instantly sold-out performance in March 2022, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and the legendary pianist Mitsuko Uchida return to Princeton University for another mesmerizing evening. This concert will feature two breathtaking concerti by W.A. Mozart, conducted from the piano by Uchida herself, paired with Leoš Janáček’s woodwind sextet, "Mládí Youth." Known for their visionary spirit, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra last captivated audiences during the 2023-24 season with an unforgettable Virtual Reality installation. Uchida, celebrated as one of the greatest living interpreters of Mozart’s keyboard music, promises an unmissable experience.

Hungarian pianist Zoltán Fejérvári made his PCMS debut in 2015 and has appeared multiple times since with Musicians from Marlboro. His latest solo recital features Schumann’s Kinderszenen, or Scenes from Childhood, and Brahms’s first published work, the C Major Piano Sonata. “Fejérvári is a deeply communicative artist who combines an imperturbable yet magisterial command of his instrument with impeccable musicality. Those who have yet to hear him are in for a rare treat” (Gramophone).
