This never-before-seen production will take place at the Reineke Concert Hall, NDSU, with performances on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 7:30 pm, and Sunday, April 14, 2024, at 2:00 pm.

Set against the mystical backdrop of ancient China, "Turandot" tells the tale of the cold-hearted Princess Turandot, who challenges her suitors to solve three riddles on pain of death. The opera unfolds with the arrival of Prince Calaf, who falls for the princess and takes on her seemingly impossible challenge. This production is renowned for its enchanting music, including the famous aria "Nessun dorma."

Under the baton of conductor Michelle Rofrano and direction by Andrew Nienaber, this production features a stellar cast including Melissa Citro as Princess Turandot, Joshua Kohl as Calaf, Amani Cole-Felder as Liù, Kevin Thompson as Timur, and a talented ensemble of artists including James Coole-Stevenson, Gregory Sliskovich, and Han Jeong Wook as the 2024 Gate City Bank Young Artists, alongside Kelly Burns as Emperor Altoum and Robin Griffeath as The Prince of Persia.

Based on the iconic children’s story, Angelina (Cinderella) sweeps the floors while her farcical stepsisters try on dresses, vying for the extremely eligible Prince Ramiro’s hand in marriage. With a twist of fate, Angelina meets Prince Ramiro. Charmed by her goodness, he knows he has found his soulmate. Amid household chaos, squabbling family members, and mistaken identities, Angelina’s honesty and forthrightness bring this story to its rightful and hilarious conclusion. Rossini’s charming take on the classic Cinderella story will delight audiences of all ages in this family-friendly opera. Cinderella stars mezzo-soprano Sarah Coit as Angelina, tenor David Walton as Prince Ramiro, and BGSU voice professor Keith Phares as Count Dandini.  Maestro Douglas Kinney Frost conducts Rossini’s sparkling score as director Marc Verzatt brings this enchanting story to life.
