Join us for an enchanting evening at the Garsington Opera: Gala Concert, a highlight of the cultural calendar, set to take place on Sunday, 7th July 2024, at 6.20pm. This prestigious event promises an unforgettable experience, showcasing a selection of the most beloved opera arias performed by a stellar cast of artists under the baton of esteemed conductors Douglas Boyd, Jonathon Cole-Swinard, Chloe Rooke, and Tess Jackson.

The Gala Concert will feature performances by a remarkable lineup of vocal talents, including sopranos Natalya Romaniw, Madison Leonard, and Isabelle Peters; mezzo-soprano Christine Rice; tenor Olive Sewell; baritones Roderick Williams and Joshua Hopkins; and bass-baritone Henry Waddington. Accompanied by the Garsington Opera Chorus and the Garsington Opera Youth Company, the evening promises an array of highlights from operatic masterpieces by Beethoven, Britten, Dvořák, Handel, Mozart, Rossini, Smetana, Strauss, Tchaikovsky, and Verdi.

The program includes excerpts from iconic works such as Beethoven's "Fidelio," Britten's "A Midsummer Night's Dream," Dvořák's "Rusalka," Handel's "Semele," Mozart's "Così fan tutte," "Idomeneo," and "The Magic Flute," Rossini's "The Barber of Seville," Smetana's "The Bartered Bride," Strauss's "Der Rosenkavalier," Tchaikovsky's "Eugene Onegin," and Verdi's "La traviata."

This special event also celebrates the opening of Garsington Studios. Attendees are invited to enjoy an afternoon at Wormsley, including a visit to the Studios, tea during a cricket match, a Young Artists’ recital, and a chance to meet the gardeners in the Walled Garden. The Gala Concert itself will be a showcase of our favourite opera arias, providing an immersive experience into the world of opera.

**Garsington Opera Presents: A Trip to the Moon**

Join us for a mesmerizing evening at the Garsington Opera with the enchanting performance of "A Trip to the Moon." This unique event takes place on Tuesday, 30th July 2024, and Wednesday, 31st July 2024, with both performances starting at 6.45pm.

**About the Opera:**
Inspired by Georges Méliès’s seminal 1902 silent film, "A Trip to the Moon" is this year’s Community Opera at Garsington Opera. Crafted by Andrew Norman, the opera unfolds a fantastical story where astronomers, after crash-landing their rocket on the moon, must overcome linguistic barriers to communicate with the moon's inhabitants. This opera promises to be a delightful experience for all ages, exploring themes of discovery, communication, and the universal quest for understanding.
