Join us for an unforgettable evening of classical music as The Sebastians present "The Five Concerti" on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 5pm. This season premiere, held at the Good Shepherd-Faith Presbyterian Church located at 152 West 66th St., promises an exquisite showcase of talent and timeless compositions.

The concert will feature a selection of grand concerti by the legendary composers Bach, Handel, and Vivaldi, bringing to life soaring solos for cello, harpsichord, violin, flute, and more. The program includes Bach's Brandenburg Concertos No. 3, 5, and 6, Handel's Concerto Grosso in G major, and Vivaldi's Concerto in G minor for two cellos. This 70-80 minute performance will proceed without intermission, offering an uninterrupted journey through the baroque era.

Performing these masterpieces are The Sebastians' own talented musicians, including David Ross (flute), Daniel Lee, Mandy Wolman, Beth Wenstrom (violin), Jessica Troy, Kyle Miller, Alissa Smith (viola), Ezra Seltzer (cello), and others, under the harmonious accompaniment of Jeffrey Grossman on the harpsichord.

The Sebastians perform Bach’s “little” Mass in G major, BWV 236, in a performance with forces matching Bach’s own proportions—oboes, bassoon, strings, and continuo, plus a stunning vocal quartet who perform as soloists and chorus: Clara Rottsolk, Wee Kiat Chia, James Reese, and Tyler Duncan. Between the movements of the mass, we will include works by Bach’s contemporaries, also simulating the way the movements of the mass would have been separated by parts of the church service.
