In the second concert of its 2025-26 season, the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra presents a dynamic programme of music by Suppé, Tchaikovsky and Berlioz.

The evening opens with Light Cavalry Overture, a lively and spirited introduction by master of the operetta, Franz von Suppé. Georgian pianist Salome Jordania joins the Orchestra to perform Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1, a powerful work that balances the virtuosic demands of the soloist with the powerful presence of the orchestra.

The season finale features Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No.1 with soloist Salome Jordania. and Saint Saens’ mighty Organ Symphony featuring the Forbes organ, played by Paul Woodring. We open with the world premiere of Meredith Brammeier’s Suite on Georgia O’Keefe. Taken from a set of piano pieces and orchestrated for full orchestra, we are excited to feature Cal Poly Professor of Composition Meredith Brammeier on this season finale. We will also be premiering a new work by local composer Stephan Podell.

Closing the 25/26 Masterworks season is an evening of works known for their virtuosic demands and lush expressive beauty. We open with Caroline Shaw’s Entracte, a captivating work inspired by a single, unexpected shift in harmony from a Haydn string quartet, blending classical sensibilities with modern flair. Joining the orchestra is guest pianist Salome Jordania to perform Saint- Saëns’ Piano Concerto No. 2 in G Major, a true showcase of the piano's power and elegance. The program concludes with the exuberant Beethoven Symphony No. 4 in B-flat Major, often dubbed “the cheerful sibling” to Beethoven’s more dramatic symphonies, offering a light, playful contrast to the intensity of his other works.

Dutch-Argentinian soprano Ana-Carmen Balestra is known for her clear expressive voice and sparkling stage presence. A graduate of the Guildhall Opera Course, she has garnered attention for her talent as both an opera and lieder singer.
