This captivating event will take place on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at 8:00 PM, with additional performances on Friday, November 15, and Sunday, November 17.

The night will feature Joe Hisaishi conducting his own world premiere alongside Mussorgsky’s enchanting "Pictures at an Exhibition," arranged by Ravel. The program includes Hisaishi's "Adagio for Strings and Two Harps," and the world premiere of his "Harp Concerto," a LA Phil commission. Emmanuel Ceysson, the LA Phil's esteemed harpist, will give the world premiere of Hisaishi’s Harp Concerto under the composer’s baton. The evening promises to be a celebration of Hisaishi's ambitious and distinct musical voice, which honors Japanese music traditions while drawing inspiration from a wide array of genres.

Joe Hisaishi, renowned for composing more than 100 film scores and being the musical mind behind nearly all of Hayao Miyazaki’s films with Studio Ghibli, explores his love for the harp with his "Adagio for Strings and Two Harps." The concert will also highlight the orchestral colors in Mussorgsky’s "Pictures at an Exhibition," arranged by Ravel, bringing to life whimsical characters and surreal scenes reminiscent of Ghibli's enchanting worlds.
