The overture from Smetana’s “The Bartered Bride” sets the tone with its lively melodies and spirited rhythms, transporting you to a world of romance and charm. Coleridge-Taylor’s “Petite Suite de Concert” follows, weaving together delicate nuances and vibrant orchestration in a showcase of refined elegance. “Chasing the Sun” by Ke-Chia Chen then offers a contemporary exploration of sound and emotion. The evening ends with Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7, a majestic masterpiece that will leave you awe-inspired.

From Broadway to Motown to Hollywood, N’Kenge salutes the divas of jazz, opera, pop, and soul. With her astonishing five-octave voice, N’Kenge pays tribute to Billie Holiday, Leontyne Price, Lena Horne, Ella Fitzgerald, Diana Ross, Whitney Houston, Beyonce, and others. Motown founder Berry Gordy heard N’Kenge and declared her “the most versatile artist I know.”

Chia-Husan Lin conducts Beethoven’s First Symphony, Haydn’s last Symphony, and works by two masters of our time – Vivian Fung and James Lee III.

Gospel and symphony fans unite! Join us this year as The Cultural Arts Center pairs the Tribute Gospel Ensemble and the Richmond Symphony on the Sara Belle November Stage in this popular, annual concert series. The Tribute Gospel Ensemble is a Richmond based Gospel group out of First African Baptist Church, one of the oldest black churches in the region celebrating its 242nd anniversary in 2022. This choir was formed over 20 years ago by its dynamic music director, Ms. Michelle Lightfoot.  Tribute has opened for such talents as: Richard Smallwood; Smokie Norful, and Darryl Coley.
