Vermont-based violinist Joana Genova and Boyd Professor Willis Delony join to perform music from their recently-released recording, The Sonatas for Violin and Piano by Stephen Dankner. Genova and Delony are enthusiastic champions of Dankner's lush and emotionally-charged compositions. Their LSU performance will be followed by two concerts in New Orleans, where Dankner was a longtime resident and former director of the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA).

Guest artist Jared Hauser, Professor of Oboe at Vanderbilt, joins LSU Boyd Professor Willis Delony in an exciting evening of music for oboe and piano. Highlights of this program include the jazz-tinged Sonata for Oboe and Piano by Howard Levy, formerly of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, plus a new work by renowned LSU composer Brian Nabors. Hauser and Delony will be recording this program for release later in 2025.

Vocalist Nicole Zuraitis, winner of the 2024 GRAMMY Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album, joins LSU Boyd Professor Willis Delony and members of the LSU jazz faculty to start our performance season with a one-of-a-kind concert.

The LSU Jazz Studies area welcomes jazz drummer Leon Anderson, Jr. to kick off our spring performance season alongside Boyd Professor Willis Delony (piano), Associate Professor Doug Stone (saxophone), and Assistant Professor Molly Redfield (bass).

Described as a "sensitive, elegant soloist" with a "subtle refined style" by Gramaphone Magazine, Jared Houser maintains an international stature as a performing and teaching artist, serving on the faculty of the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University. For his performance at LSU, Houser joins LSU Boyd Professor Willis Delony for an evening of jazz selections, as well as solo oboe repertoire.

LSU Boyd Professor Willis Delony presents "Images, Standards, Improvisations and Ballades - with a little Stardust in the end", an afternoon program of piano music exploring the connections between classical and jazz traditions through classic works by Claude Debussy, Frederic Chopin, Joe Makholm, John Lewis, Wayne Shorter, and Hoagy Carmichael.
