Faythe Vollrath, harpsichordist, is actively heard as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States. Hailed by the Wall Street Journal for her “subtly varied tempo and rhythm that sounds like breathing,” her solo performances include venues such as MusicSources in Berkeley, California, Gotham Early Music in New York City, and Bruton Parish Church in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia. Other unique experiences include a solo performance pairing Japanese harpsichord works with Japanese art at the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento, and performing in a columbarium as part of the Garden of Memory in Oakland. Enamored with the contrast of new music written for historic instruments, Faythe combines these new vs. old elements in many of her performances. Concerts dedicated specifically to this pursuit include the Festival of New American Music in Sacramento, and the Center for New Music in San Francisco. She has performed concerts of new music in both Serbia and France, introducing new American composers to the audience.

Formed in Paris in 2015, Le Consort is an early music ensemble dedicated to the quintessential chamber music genre that reigned supreme in the Baroque era: the trio sonata. Made up of two violins, a cello and a harpsichord, the ensemble’s diverse repertoire includes trio sonatas from Italy, France, Germany and England, which represent the essence of Baroque chamber music., Le Consort’s Music in the Park Series program highlights the works of well-known composers who helped define the genre, such as J.S Bach, Georg Phillipe Telemann and Francesco Geminiani, as well as those whose works remain unknown and often unpublished, such as Giorgio Gentili, Nicola Porpora, and Michel-Pignolet de Montéclair.

Janine Jansen has no problem playing popular works like Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" again and again, because, as she says, "ultimately, every interpretation is unique." The CAMERATA audience can also expect such unique performances when the orchestra's artistic partner embarks on an adventurous and atmospheric journey through the Italian seasons of the early 18th century, still unclouded by climate change. The music magazine Stereoplay praised Janine Jansen's performance of "The Seasons" as "a completely natural, breathing flow." Janine Jansen also brings two other great Italian Baroque violinists into play, bundled together in one work: Vivaldi's contemporary Geminiani reworked a violin sonata by Corelli on the voluptuous Portuguese dance "folía" into a brilliant concerto grosso. Jansen and the CAMERATA will demonstrate how productive this concert form still is in our time in a string concerto by film music king Nino Rota from 2007 and a charming concerto combination for string quartet, string orchestra and harpsichord by Richard Dubugnon from 2020.
