**Concert Description:**  
Join us for an enchanting afternoon as the Canton Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Music Director Matthew Jenkins Jaroszewicz, presents "Sunday with Sibelius." This concert will transport you to the icy landscapes of Finland through Jean Sibelius’ Symphony No. 1 in E Minor, a piece that captures the essence of his homeland with its contrasting cold and warm tones, perfect for a February day.

The program opens with a concert overture by Elfrida Andrée, marking her music's debut in Canton. Following this, concertmaster Konrad Kowal will mesmerize the audience with Max Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1 in G Major, a romantic masterpiece.

**Pre-Concert Lecture:**  
A pre-concert lecture will be held at 2:00 PM in Foundation Hall, providing insights into the pieces and composers featured in the program.

**Artist Spotlight: Konrad Kowal**  
Konrad Kowal, a Chicago-born Polish-American violinist, is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music. He serves as the concertmaster of the Canton Symphony Orchestra and has performed with several prestigious orchestras. Kowal is also a dedicated teacher and has been a teaching assistant since 2019.

**Composer Spotlights:**
- **Elfrida Andrée:** A pioneering 19th-century Scandinavian composer whose work is being introduced to Canton audiences for the first time.
- **Max Bruch:** Renowned for his romantic violin concertos, Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1 remains a favorite in the classical repertoire.
- **Jean Sibelius:** A Finnish composer whose symphonies are celebrated for their nationalistic fervor and evocative soundscapes.
