Between the dramatic tones of the overture to Mozart’s last opera and the most dramatic Symphony by L. van Beethoven, the tones of the trombone concerto by a Danish composer from the first half of the 20th century, almost unknown in our country, will be heard.

Join us for an evening of exceptional trombone performance by Tim George, a talented Master of Music student at the Northwestern Bienen School of Music. This recital, part of his academic journey, showcases his skills under the tutelage of esteemed faculty members Michael Mulcahy, Randall Hawes, Reed Capshaw, and R. Douglas Wright. Accompanied by Zachary Hommel and Parisa Tofigh on trumpet, Gwen Boros on horn, Lola Stevenson on bass trombone, and Yoko Yamada-Selvaggio on piano, Tim George will present a captivating program. The repertoire includes Leopold Mozart's Concerto for Alto Trombone, Joseph Jongen's Aria et polonaise, Op. 128, Sergei Rachmaninoff's Sleep, Op. 38, No. 5, Launy Grondahl's Concerto for Trombone, and Leonard Bernstein's Maria from West Side Story, arranged by Jack Gale.

This event is scheduled for Friday, May 10, 2024, at 8:30pm CDT, in the Regenstein Master Class Room at the Bienen School of Music, 60 Arts Circle Drive, Evanston, IL 60208.
