The Holiday Concert is sure to be a blast! Along with your favorite Christmas carols you’ll hear delights from Johann Strauss to John Williams. You might raise your eyebrows hearing Minors Alterations by David Lovrien, who called his medley “Christmas Through the Looking Glass.” Our concertmaster Christina Wu will indulge you with the gorgeous Meditation from the Opera Thais by Jules Massenet and stormy Winter from Vivaldi’s Seasons. Additionally, per CSO tradition, we are proud to welcome some of the best high school music students in our area to perform side-by-side with the orchestra during the Sunday Holiday Concert.

Splendor? Gloria! It couldn't be more festive and magnificent in sound: with concentrated trumpet power, we're getting in the mood for Christmas this year in opulent baroque style. The Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra and its trumpeters, together with trumpet superstar Reinhold Friedrich and an ensemble of master students of the sought-after university professor, form an impressive trumpet septet. Big names of composers are on the program, but also those that are mainly familiar to early music fans, such as Heinrich Ignaz, Franz Biber and Johann Samuel Endler. At the podium: the young conductor Valentin Egel, GMD at the Croatian National Theater Rijeka since 2021. A Christmas concert with drums and trumpets, splendor and glory!

Join us for this delightful holiday celebration as we present two spirited afternoon concerts of classical chamber music in the English Gothic Revival architecture of Emmanuel Church. Our own flute section of Stephanie LUPO & Clara CAPRIOTTI and concertmistress Rebekah COPE-EVERS will be appearing as soloists in J.S. BACH’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 in G Major. The Kvso Chorus" class="css-u850">KVSO Chorus will perform the entirety of Antonio VIVALDI’s Gloria in D Major as well as selections from G.F. HANDEL’s Messiah. The KVSO will also perform Franz Josef HAYDN’s Symphony No. 96 in D Major “The Miracle” and there will also be an opportunity for audience participation, as singers, during this concert.

Together with a romp through the exuberant final chorus of Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, the Connaughts savour seasonal Tchaikovsky, while an Advent carol wraps itself around wistful Nina Simone. But there’s room for innovation too. And as well as a 150th anniversary nod to planetary Holst, there’s Terry Johns’ piano-gilded meditation inspired by the stained glass of Eduardo Paolozzi triptych in St Giles’ Cathedral Edinburgh.

Georg Friedrich Händel and Antonio Vivaldi headline the program, with Jan Dismas Zelenka's surprisingly expressive music eagerly rediscovered. Like them, Jean-Baptiste Loeillet, born in Ghent, achieved acclaim as a chamber music composer in London. The recipe for Baroque trio sonatas is simple: two melodic instruments engage in dialogue, accompanied by chord and bass instruments. Virtuosity, contrapuntal refinement, and melodic richness make these works a delight for the ears.

You might think you know the story of Little Red Riding Hood, but this musical adaption of Roald Dahl’s wicked Revolting Rhymes turns this classic woodland tale into a cheeky, riotous adventure.  

Seattle Men’s Chorus serves up everyone’s favorite holiday tradition: seasonal classics, Christmas comedy, a dizzying array of dancing Santas, and the gayest sing-along ever! Songs include “Pink Christmas,” “Joy to the World,” and a new holiday version of “Holding Out for a Hero.”

This year’s lineup includes an abbreviated show specifically for children to join in the delight of Ho Ho Ho. The one-hour show accommodates those with shorter attention spans, complete with extra dancing to get the wiggles out and an extended sing-along with general admission seating. Perfect for all ages!

Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra brass players Hannah Mackenzie and Richard Cowen started out in Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (formerly Merseyside Youth Orchestra). Now, they’re back where it all began, taking to the stage alongside our current Youth Orchestra and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra as soloists in Vivaldi’s sparkling Concerto for Two Trumpets. The Youth Orchestra will also perform the world premiere of a brand-new version of Danny Elfman's Wunderkammer. The Carolina Music Planner String Quartet is looking forward to performing Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons.” This work is amongst Vivaldi’s most-notable compositions and one of the earliest examples of program music. Each of the four violin concerti (the “seasons”) are split into three movements. Vivaldi wrote the pieces to accompany poems bringing Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter to life through music.

Treat yourself to a fabulous and intimate baroque performance by Le Consort, the Paris-based preeminent ensemble. Le Consort is co-directed by violinist Théotime Langlois de Swarte who is recognized globally as one of the foremost baroque violinists, the virtuosic harpsichordist Justin Taylor, and Baroque violinist Sophie de Bardonnèche; and joined by cellist Hanna Salzenstein. These four accomplished musicians, all under the age of 30, approach the chamber baroque repertoire with fervent dedication, genuine sincerity, and a touch of modernity. Their collective mission is to unite compelling musical personalities in the pursuit of chamber music from the 17th and 18th centuries.

When we talk about the great Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi , we immediately think of his four-concert series "Seasons" - it's not for nothing that this piece is not only the best-known opus in the composer's oeuvre, but one of the most well-known works in the world !


The composer named each concert: "Spring", "Summer", "Autumn" and "Winter" , and it begins with a sonnet that brings the listeners into the special mood of each season, and the music also follows the images of the sonnets exactly. The author of these sonnets is still shrouded in mystery, but it is assumed that the poetry was written by Vivaldi himself.

Michala Petri is one of Denmark's most recognized soloists, and her talent on the recorder is legendary. Since her debut as a mere 11-year-old in Tivoli's Concert Hall in 1969, with her virtuosity and passion for the recorder, she has conquered the world's music stages and left her mark on the world of classical music for over 50 years. Now she dives once again into her absolute specialty: the magical universe of the Baroque. She lets the audience be seduced with lovely music by Vivaldi, as well as Bach's double concerto, originally written for violin and oboe, but tonight with Michala Petri's recorder as the main focus.
