We’re delighted to be back at Cadogan Hall this Yuletide for two nights of beauty, wonder and seasonal joy. From medieval carols to visionary modern masterpieces, it all takes its inspiration from the story at the heart of the season: a baby in a stable, surrounded by simply heavenly singing.

Angels are all around us. So started a discussion between John Studzinski (philanthropist and founder of the Genesis Foundation) and the late Robert Willis (poet, cleric and Dean of Canterbury Cathedral until 2022). Often angels are introduced into stories and creative art as signs of a spiritual dimension which is beyond our human conceiving. There is in fact a much wider acceptance of the concept of angels in the minds and hearts of people of all faiths and none. Robert was commissioned by John to write a series of poems about Angels as messengers, ministers, warriors and worshippers, with John then commissioning three young composers to set these poems to music.

### Brahms Requiem by Candlelight - Academy of St Martin in the Fields

Join us for an enchanting evening of music as St Martin’s Voices and the Academy of St Martin in the Fields Chamber Ensemble perform Johannes Brahms' "Ein deutsches Requiem," arranged by Iain Farrington. This special performance will be held by candlelight, creating a serene and reflective atmosphere in the historic Church of St Martin-in-the-Fields.

In addition to Brahms' masterpiece, the evening will feature the world premiere of "The Kingdom of Heaven," a new work by Lucy Walker, the Composer-in-Residence for St Martin’s Voices.

Give Me Your Stars explores the profound and diverse beauty of music inspired by the heavens, human connection, and the places we call home. At its heart is Lucy Walker’s eponymous new work, written for VOCES8, which captures the delicate balance between celestial wonder and the deep, personal connections that make us human.

The programme spans centuries of choral music, from the luminous polyphony of Tomás Luis de Victoria’s Regina caeli to timeless jazz standards. Along the way, we encounter the reflective sentiments of Eric Whitacre’s All Seems Beautiful to Me and Ola Gjeilo’s Ubi caritas, folk traditions in Danny Boy and Michael McGlynn’s Dúlamán, and evocative tales of cities and starlight in April in Paris and New York, New York.
