Join us for an enchanting evening of trumpet mastery featuring Ari Rios, a talented Bachelor of Music student under the guidance of David Bilger. This recital is set to take place on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 6:00pm CDT in the prestigious Galvin Recital Hall. Ari Rios will be accompanied by an array of talented musicians including Marco Alvarez (tenor), Lilie Shlyak, Oliver Zhang, and Tehya Shapiro (trumpet), Colin Akers (horn), Liam Melvin (trombone), Andrew Ng (bass trombone), and Yoko Yamada-Selvaggio (piano).

Mozart composed his opera “The Magic Flute” as an allegory for the Masonic initiation. In this program, FWSO brass deliver a bright arrangement of the opera’s Overture as well as offerings by composers Oskar Böhme and Kevin McKee. Also on the program are Elliot Carter’s grave Sonata for Piano and Cello as well as one of Britten’s first published works, the rarely heard Phantasy Oboe Quartet.
