Turning brass into gold: five young trumpeters from Great Britain, Sweden, and Ukraine know the formula that countless alchemists have sought in vain. Founded four years ago at London’s Royal Academy of Music, Fiveby5 produces a radiant, golden brass sound with a brilliant sheen and has already won numerous prizes. Most recently, the quintet won the prestigious Philip Jones International Brass Ensemble Competition in 2025. This success has, among other things, led to their appearance at “In the Streets: City Stage”: the varied program ranges from Bach, Rameau, and Mozart to the rousing Hoe-Down from Aaron Copland’s cowboy ballet Rodeo.

When the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra comes to Gustav Adolfs Torg, an evening of music awaits, spanning different eras and worlds. The programme ranges from Gershwin’s Summertime and Piazzolla’s Buenos Aires to Hugo Alfvén’s The Herdmaiden’s Dance. The evening continues with Stravinsky’s The Firebird and concludes with Ravel’s Boléro, as the music gradually builds to a powerful crescendo. The concert also marks Andrés Orozco-Estrada’s first appearance as Chief Conductor of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra. Trumpeter Ellinor Bengtson performs as soloist.

Eastern European folk music with classical harmonies and is . Bengtson will be accompanied by the Finnish conductor Eva Ollikainen and the Radio Symphony Orchestra, who will also perform a world premiere by the Estonian composer Mirjam Tally and a suite based on Richard Strauss' modernist and psychological opera Elektra.

Ring out the old and sing in the new with the Berwaldhallen’s festive Epiphany concert! In this year’s concert, comedian Jonatan Unge is your host, and the Norwegian conductor Cathrine Winnes leads the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Swedish Radio Choir, along with sopranos Julia Sporsén and Mari Eriksmoen, as well as this year’s Classical Artist in P2, trumpeter Ellinor Bengtson.
