Next, Paul Hindemith’s Symphonic Metamorphosis on Themes of Carl Maria von Weber dazzles with bold orchestration, rhythmic vitality, and playful wit. The program culminates in Ludwig van Beethoven’s brilliant Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major, a masterwork of profound introspection and lyric beauty. The extraordinary artistry of John Chernoff promises to illuminate every nuance of this immortal concerto.

The Eureka Symphony begins its 2025-2026 season with a Season Prelude Gala at the Fortuna River Lodge. We’ll be offering new programs, music, food, drinks and meaningful fundraising opportunities. This year’s theme embodies deeply shared values – transforming, creating, renewing, and connecting with each other through the power of live, local music. A special performance by the Temporary Resonance Trio, featuring Carol Jacobson, Terrie Baune and John Chernoff will be the day’s finale.

The Vipisa Trio is a Violin, Piano, and Saxophone trio featuring faculty and staff from Cal Poly Humboldt: Virginia Ryder, saxophone; Cindy Moyer, violin; and John Chernoff, piano. Their program will include the most famous piece written for this instrumentation, Cantilène et danse by M. Eychenne, as well as new music composed for the Vipisa Trio by J. Chernoff and D. da Silva.
