To mark the 100th anniversary of Miles Davis's birth, an extraordinary sound project is being created: Jazz trumpeter Sebastian Studnitzky and conductor Fabrice Bollon are inspired by Davis's legendary album "Aura" and create two new works between jazz, classical and avant-garde music.

To kick off its anniversary year in 2026, the Halle State Orchestra invites you to a musical highlight: Under the direction of Fabrice Bollon, Baroque and Impressionist soundscapes will meet. Together with the Halle Handel Festival Orchestra – on period instruments – French music will be performed in all its stylistic breadth.

A traveling journeyman, through his flute playing and with the help of a musical mechanism built by Master Florian, prevents a rather decadent princess from being lynched by her own people.

On Valentine's Day, we invite you to a special family concert – full of excitement, goosebumps, and lots of music! Together with the Halle State Orchestra, we'll explore one of the greatest feelings of all: love. But what exactly is love? A flutter in your stomach? Deep affection for loved ones? Or perhaps simply a warm smile?

A sunrise in the mountains, a strenuous climb, then the coolness of the forest and the sound of the waterfall. Lush mountain meadows and the ringing of cowbells, finally an approaching thunderstorm, lightning and thunder and a narrow survival at the dangerous height. What, if not a symphony orchestra, could depict this intoxication of colors and sounds? And who, if not Richard Strauss, could paint this sound painting? The Alpine Symphony features over 100 musicians, including wind machines, thunder sheets and cowbells. But Strauss depicts his mountain world with great sensitivity, creating new timbres in very different ensembles. And the hike to the mountain peak is not just to be understood literally - the symphonic poem is also related to the writings of Friedrich Nietzsche and can be understood as a depiction of an entire life.

We all know deep feelings of grief, despair and loneliness and are connected to all of humanity through them. Becoming aware of this can be comforting and dealing with these emotions can even have a healing effect. Peter Tchaikovsky's 4th Symphony is pain turned into sound and the expression of a deep personal crisis: his unhappy marriage plunged the homosexual composer into depression, and death seemed to him the only way out.

6th Symphony Concert

Works whose creators themselves did not think would one day be world famous: Johannes Brahms, a pianist by training, had already premiered his first piano concerto and the music world was eagerly awaiting a violin concerto by the 45-year-old. After all, Beethoven and Mendelssohn had presented masterpieces. The reviews were devastating: the conductor Hans von Bülow was of the opinion that the work was written less "for" than "against the violin", virtuosos such as Henryk Wieniawski called the piece "unplayable". Nowadays, this concerto is an indispensable part of a violinist's repertoire.

The concert series for connoisseurs and gourmets: Not only the masters of Viennese classical music are on the program here - you can also experience the Handel Festival Orchestra in this concert series of the Staatskapelle Halle. Always on Sunday afternoons, always great!

This work has been traditionally played on New Year's Eve in Germany for over a hundred years, because the "Ode to Joy" fits perfectly with the end of the year and in Halle you also have the chance to experience Beethoven's powerful work for symphony orchestra, choir and soloists live. The Staatskapelle Halle will ignite this firework of emotions together with you at the end of the year. When the call "All men become brothers" sounds in the final movement, it is nothing other than Beethoven's musical appeal for social cohesion, for humanity and peace. And so the Staatskapelle also wants to look ahead with this concert and

New Year's Eve concert

Arthur Honegger's poignant oratorio "Joan of Arc at the Stake" movingly portrays the final hours of the French national heroine. Condemned as a heretic, the young woman remains steadfast to the very end – a symbol of civil courage, faith, and inner strength.
