Family Concert No. 3 "The Teddy and the Animals"

The queen has no doubt: anyone who can feel a pea through a tower of twenty mattresses so strongly that sleep is no longer an option must be a real princess. But is there any girl who can pass this unusual test? This question is answered by the famous fairy tale by the Danish poet Hans Christian Andersen, which librettist Jörg Schade and composer Andreas N. Tarkmann have brought to life in an entertaining version for speaker and chamber orchestra. Using easy-to-understand language and simple but effective compositional means, they unfold vivid scenarios. The delicate princess on the pea is represented by a fine flute melody, while the clarinet embodies the prince on his rather bizarre search for a bride.

The orchestra enters, starts tuning the instruments, the conductor enters the stage to thunderous applause and… What is that? It’s not the one symphony by Beethoven on the music stands! No, it’s a new symphony, put together by you, the audience. Help decide which movements from which of Beethoven’s symphonies should be performed today. Because we are embarking on a democratic musical journey!
